International research institutions have reached consistent conclusions. As early as March 28, 2012, Greenpeace released the Clean Production Research Report on China's Photovoltaic Industry, affirming solar power as a superior low-carbon energy source. The report demonstrates that achieving clean production in the PV industry delivers dual benefits: environmental protection and cost reduction.
Critically, photovoltaic systems operate with zero emissions during electricity generation. While manufacturing involves energy consumption and carbon emissions, these represent merely 5–10% of fossil fuel equivalents. With an Energy Payback Time (EPT) of just 1.3 years and a typical system lifespan of 25 years, PV installations provide approximately 24 years of net-zero carbon operation – underscoring their exceptional advantages in energy conservation and emission reduction.
